# Now
*Updated: 26 September 2025*
The Now Page comes from an idea by [Derek Sivers](https://sive.rs/). In short, it tells you what I'm up to at this point in my life. If you're not interested, which I get, no pressure!
I'm trying to get through the process of reducing my use of antidepressants, which is dominating far more of my thoughts than I like. You can read how that's going here: [[My Head Hurts]]. But, I am trying to keep my other interests alive.
## Learning
- I've been reading a lot about climate change and reducing consumption. The issue of the impending climate crisis seems much like a huge iceberg (maybe not the best analogy), we're getting closer, it's getting bigger; meanwhile we have our fingers in our ears pretending it's not happening. It is!
- I started using Obsidian for my study notes, syncing plain text notes to my phone and creating this website. Normally I find this sort of thing a bit of a chore, but at the moment, I'm enjoying learning something new.
As I'm using Obsidian to publish this site, I found that some HTML and CSS knowledge would be useful. It's slow process, but I'm getting the hang of it.
- During the winter, I self-study the history of Conflict Photography, with a particular interest in its representation in the media.
## Reading
- [There is No Planet B](https://theresnoplanetb.net/) (updated edition) by Mike Berners-Lee (originally the library, but it's the sort of book you really need to annotate, so, I've now ordered a copy)
- The Every by Dave Eggers
My [[recently read]] list.
## Making
Not much at the moment. I had been busy experimenting bread making and building a rack for my bike, but my current difficulties with my medication has put that on hold. I do hope to get back to it shortly.
## Other Stuff
- I used to ride my bike a lot and because of ill health I slowly got out of the habit. It's a great way to keep fit and one I really enjoy. I have two bikes staring at me every time I go in the shed; I'm determined to get back on the bike as soon as possible.
- I'm gradually moving away from Big Tech you can [read a bit more about that here](https://brokenbiscuits.uk/blog/my-head-hurts-1). This site is one of the first steps in that process. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear from you.
