# Now
The Now Page comes from an idea by [Derek Sivers](https://sive.rs/). So, this is my Now Page, although it's probably not as interesting as Mr Sivers'!
Predominately, I'm trying to get through the process of reducing my use of antidepressants. You can read how that's going here: [[My Head Hurts]]. But, I am trying to keep my other interests alive.
## Learning
- I'm self-studying the history of Conflict Photography, with a particular interest in its representation in the media.
- I started using Obsidian for my study notes, syncing plain text notes to my phone and creating this website. Normally I find this sort of thing a bit of a chore, but at the moment, I'm enjoying learning something new.
- As I'm using Obsidian to publish this site, I found that some HTML and CSS knowledge would be useful. It's slow process, but I'm getting the hang of it.
## Reading
- [The Way Home: Tales from a life without technology](https://www.hive.co.uk/Product/Mark-Boyle/The-Way-Home--Tales-from-a-life-without-technology/24519665) by Mark Boyle
- [The Circle](https://www.hive.co.uk/Product/Dave-Eggers/The-Circle/15623874) by Dave Eggars (my first ever audiobook, from the library*)
**Recent**
- [Machines Like Me](https://www.hive.co.uk/Product/Ian-McEwan/Machines-Like-Me--From-the-Sunday-Times-bestselling-author-of-Lessons/24499602) by Ian McEwan
\* I sometimes forget how wonderful the library is! It's a great way to save some money, reduce your impact on the world and support an incredible local resource.
## Making
- I've been making a loaf of bread each weekend for the last few months. They're definitely improving as the weeks go by. My latest favourite is a mix of rye, whole wheat and plain flour, in a 1+2+2 ratio.
I tried sourdough, but it makes me feel as though I need to stick to a bread-making schedule. I like the freedom that I get with yeasted bread. I can see myself coming back to sourdough when I have more time.
- I'm working on designing a front carrier for my bike. I've picked up a shopping basket and I'm looking for the best way to mount it, but make it easily removable.
## Other stuff
- I used to ride my bike a lot and because of ill health I slowly got out of the habit. It's a great way to keep fit and one I really enjoy. I have two bikes staring at me every time I go in the shed; I'm determined to get back on the bike as soon as possible.
- I'm gradually moving away from Big Tech you can [read a bit more about that here](Moving-Away-From-Big-Tech). This site is one of the first steps in that process. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear from you.
